Its origin dates back to 1941, when several Canarian companies dedicated to food, existing since the 1920s, decided to merge to form the Tirma group. At first it was dedicated to roasting coffee and making chocolate, although it later increased its offer.
Tirma achieved an important implantation in the Canarian market due to the geographic situation of the island, which made it difficult to introduce other companies in the middle of the 20th century. However, and despite the entry of multinationals to the island market in the 1950s and 60s, Tirma maintained a leadership position in sales and implementation of products in its regional market.
The company took the opportunity to expand its product range and move to larger production sites. Today it continues as one of the main food companies in the Canary Islands.
