Official Online Store of Rum and Honey rum Arehucas from the Canary Islands
On August 9, 1884, the San Pedro Factory was inaugurated in Arucas, Gran Canaria, mainly dedicated to the production of sugar, and to a lesser extent to the production of cane spirits and rum, precursor of the current Arehucas Distillery. The traditional process to convert cane juice into rum, combined with the use of modern devices, made "La Fábrica", as it was popularly known, obtain its first successes.
Suppliers of the Spanish Royal House and Court: In 1885 the first grinding was obtained with 5,619,540 Kgs of sugar cane. The quality of its liqueurs made it worthy of the Silver and Bronze Cup and the Title of Suppliers of the Spanish Royal House and Court, which was granted by the Queen Regent Doña María Cristina of Austria.
In 1892, only 8 years after the inauguration of La Fábrica, and the rum that came out of Arucas already enjoyed great appreciation throughout all the islands.
Arehucas distilleries is today a century-old company, with a consecrated history, one of the largest and oldest rum cellars in all of Europe. Consolidated as a prestigious brand based on the quality and history of its brand wines, it has managed to establish itself as a benchmark for rum in Europe.
